… system provides coverage for new facility

Trinity College, Summer Hill Campus (Sydney), recently completed construction of a new aquatic centre. The facility consists of an Olympic sized pool with stadium seating and a seminar room situated at the top of the centre.

The P.A. People Installed Systems team provided the PA system for the main pool area. The speaker coverage included the grandstand and a row of back-to-back JBL AWC82 speakers covering the length of the pool.

Situated at the northern deck is a row of Control JBL25AV speakers providing paging coverage. The paging head-end distributes audio around the pool area via a BOSCH PLM-8M8 mic and a wireless microphone. In addition to that, they also have a YAMAHA CD player and iPod dock for background audio when required.

The system has two control facilities including a BOSCH wall control panel which provides the school with simple source selection and volume control. They also have the option of using the BOSCH software control via PC which is situated in the staff control room.

A particular challenge were the hearing loops which are installed in the concrete bleachers with special high grade cable tied to the reinforced steel above the concrete. These were installed before the concrete was poured for the stairs. The install process involved repeated re-testing of equipment to ensure no breakages occurred.

The seminar room, situated up a flight of stairs, is equipped with a 55 inch LED display which is used for staff and student training. This also acts as a meeting room for various swimming events. The LED display includes 2 HDMI inputs and a Blu-ray player controlled by a local wall mount AMX CP008 panel.
