… The P.A People runs event comms for this iconic event!
A field of 80,000 plus runners waiting to start the 2015 Sun Herald City2Surf were queued up Park, College and Macquarie streets waiting for their start time. The P.A. People once again supplied and installed the start line PA system to allow the Fairfax special events team to coordinate the massive undertaking of getting the event underway safely and on time.
As part of our continuous effort to improve the delivery of events and the potential impact of the light rail construction in future years, we were asked to look at ways to remove two of our street crossings. Part of the solution was to install IP links to deliver the audio signal from control in Cook and Philip Park, to the amp racks in Hyde Park. Additional links to Macquarie St and to the DJ tower, set in the middle of William Street, were all Dante over fibre. This multi-platform digital solution helped us to deliver an outcome that met and exceeded our client’s brief.
This year’s event marked the introduction of the ‘Run Out Loud’ concept where Fairfax provide the music to run to. At the Finish Line, the PA people was once again present to help the runners finish the Event, then to guide them around Bondi to claim their belongings or to find a bus back home. Eight separate PA systems installed throughout Bondi, each with their own source, achieved this task to motivate and guide the runners home.
