A $3 million sound system upgrade to Sydney’s ANZ Stadium gives concert-sound quality to the 83,500-capacity venue, setting a new standard for stadium sound in Australia and matching the best in the world. The multipurpose stadium was purpose built for the 2000 Summer Olympics and now hosts professional sporting events as well as being the first choice for global entertainment acts including U2, The Rolling Stones, Andre Rieu and AC/DC.
“Our knowledge of the Ground, developed over nearly 15 years, places us in a unique position to understand the requirements of a new system, the wide range of events it needs to serve and the Stadium’s expectation of that delivery for their clients and audiences. Having delivered three systems since 1998, and having engaged with every major event over that period - as well as servicing the entire system since its installation, we get that ‘expectation’ and responsibility - in spades” . Chris Dodds, Managing Director, The P.A. People
The new sound system doubles the number of speaker boxes to 374 suspended in clusters, and debuted at the State of Origin opener on June 5 and again at Australia’s successful World Cup qualifier against Iraq on June 18. It has now carried the third State of Origin and the July 20th Manchester United games.
ANZ Stadium asked AV provider, The P.A. People to deliver another specialist edited time lapse sequence capability for the Stadium & precinct - capturing this week's key activities - including State of Origin and Manchester United games. Chris Dodds, MD said -"we've provided this for ANZ previously, as well as for the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.”
The P.A. People has deployed up to six full HD SLR cameras at strategic locations around the ground to capture the activities of the Stadium over a five-day period…
Established in 1982, JMC Academy was originally founded in Sydney to meet the demand for qualified professionals in the entertainment technology industry. Recently, the Academy relocated to a new purpose-built three level campus in Ultimo, Sydney.
The P.A. People supplied and installed the audio visual requirements including the auditorium where a JBL VRX PA system was chosen. The VRX900 Series Constant Curvature Line Array speakers deliver extraordinary power handling, clarity, flexibility and of course, stunning JBL sound.
"There are three VRX932LAP speakers per side as well as a VRX918SP subwoofer per side," revealed Brett Steele, project manager for The PA People. "As the auditorium ceiling is quite low, the sub is mounted in behind the three VRX932 boxes to maintain as much height as possible. The client wanted a system that was quite punchy and the VRX certainly delivers." Brett Steele, Project Manager - The P.A. People
